Our featured horse for October is Simba!

This time of year three years ago Lancers made the decision to retire one of our beloved ponies, Simba. Simba was by all counts a real rock-star in our lesson programs, but was letting us know that he wasn’t loving his job as much as he once did. One of Lancers’ core values is treating the horses with the utmost respect and teaching riders to not only learn to ride, but to care for horses. We acknowledge the service they have given us, and we strive to give them a retirement where they can enjoy their golden years. We aim to find a home for our horses while they still have some good years left.

This month we’re checking in with Simba who now enjoys the company of his “own person” at a farm in rural New Brunswick. Going strong at nearly 25 years old, Simba still gets ridden while also enjoying time in Pasture. He is well loved, and is loving his retirement.

While at Lancers Simba was in the Musical rides, was a favourite at shows, taught children and adults of all ages and levels, did Prince Phillip Games, was a staple in our summer camps, and did it all so well. He had a big personality, and kept his riders on their toes, making him an excellent teacher. We are so grateful for all of the lessons we have learned from Simba. We’ve included pictures from his time at Lancers, but also from his new home.
